Dr. Ashley Melco

Dr. Ashley Melco is a board-certified Small Animal Internal Medicine Specialist at PETS Emergency & Specialty in Alaska. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Western University of Health Sciences, completed a rotating internship at North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine, and a residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

Dr. Melco provides advanced specialty care for patients throughout Alaska with special interests in gastrointestinal, immune-mediated, and infectious diseases. She is passionate about delivering compassionate, evidence-based medicine while partnering closely with referring veterinarians to provide exceptional patient care.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Melco serves as President of the Alaska Veterinary Medical Association (AKVMA), where she works to advance continuing education, legislative advocacy, and collaboration within the veterinary profession. She is also passionate about mentoring veterinary professionals and promoting mental health and wellbeing throughout the veterinary community.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Melco enjoys gardening, cooking, reading, and exploring Alaska's beautiful outdoors with her husband, Steven, and their dogs.
